Directors and Choreographers
Term of Engagement
Unless agreed to by Equity, a Director or Choreographer must be engaged from the start of rehearsals until the end of the day of the first public performance. This doesn’t apply to Choreographers engaged on an hourly basis.
Prep
Directors and Choreographers can be engaged prior to the start of rehearsals for a prep period. If the prep period is continuous to the start of rehearsals, the prep can form part of the standard contract period and contractual fee. All Artist source deductions, including insurance will apply.
If the prep is done further in advance of rehearsals, the Artist can negotiate an additional fee at their discretion. This amount will form part of the contractual fee, subject to Artist source deductions, but insurance deductions (and coverage) won’t apply.
Auditions
Directors and Choreographers can participate in auditions as part of their negotiated fee if they’re engaged for the full production. The Artist can also negotiate an additional fee at their discretion. This amount will form part of the contractual fee, subject to Artist source deductions, but insurance deductions (and coverage) won’t apply.
Director/Choreographer
When an Artist is engaged as both Director and Choreographer, the weekly fee shall be calculated as 100% of the applicable Director weekly fee plus 50% of the applicable Choreographer weekly fee.
