National Ballet of Canada

The National Ballet of Canada was founded in 1951 and solidified its place in Canadian history with its inaugural performance at The Eaton Auditorium on November 12 of that year.

Renowned for its diverse repertoire, the company performs traditional full-length classics, embraces contemporary work and supports the creation of new ballets and the development of Canadian choreographers.

Today, the company is recognized as one of the world’s leading ballet companies, with 70 dancers, its own orchestra, and a permanent home at The Walter Carsen Centre in Toronto.

Equity’s first collective agreement with the National Ballet of Canada was negotiated in 1960.
