Equity is excited to share the 2024 Honours Awards video. The Honours Awards recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of Equity members and other artists in our industry.
Watch the video and join us in congratulating the following artists for their immeasurable contributions to the sector:
Clare Coulter, Kelley McKinlay, Edward Roy, and David Warrack have been awarded Life Membership in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the live performing arts.
Lior Maharjan received the Emerging Artist Award, which includes a generous $2000 prize from arts supporter, Gail Asper.
David Connolly received the inaugural Changemaker Award in recognition of his tremendous impact in furthering the values of diversity and inclusion in the performing arts.
Lynn McQueen has been posthumously awarded the Larry McCance Award for her outstanding contribution to the Association.
And Zelda Dean has been given Honorary Membership in Equity in appreciation of her work in the performing arts and contributions to our members.
“We are thrilled to celebrate those in our community who have contributed so much to our art and our Association,” said Honours Committee Chair and First Vice-President, Donna Fletcher. “What makes these awards exceedingly special is that they are peer-nominated honours – representing not only the thanks of our Association, but the appreciation of Equity artists – for the years of support, guidance, and creative inspiration demonstrated by our honourees.
“We are part of a community of courageous and inspirational theatre makers – in every discipline and every region. These awards are a small measure of the appreciation we feel for these talented and dedicated honourees who have given their hearts, their time, and their prodigious talents to their love of creation.”
