Equity is very pleased to announce the appointment of Omar Alex Khan as Equity Council Second Vice-President. Councillor for the Ontario region, Omar was acclaimed at the Council meeting on February 27, 2023, filling the role previously held by Ryan G. Hinds.

The Second Vice-President serves as Council's liaison with the Equity membership and is Chair of the Member Engagement and Education Committee.

A veteran performer of stage, film, and TV, and accomplished voice actor, Omar has been an Equity member for 15 years. He began his career in Winnipeg before relocating to Ontario 8 years ago.

"Although, new to Council, I’m eager and excited to take on the responsibilities of 2nd VP, and honoured that Council has entrusted me with this position. Part of my role includes member outreach and engagement, so you’ll be hearing from me! Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions about Council and its business."

Equity would like to thank Ryan G. Hinds, who enthusiastically held this position since November 2020, supporting membership as Second Vice-President throughout the pandemic. Ryan tirelessly advocated for better mental health services, LGBTQ+ issues, Equity's culturally diverse members, and improving member engagement via better Council communication with the membership.
