Update on Federal Government Support Benefits
Earlier today the Liberal government announced that several existing pandemic support programs for individuals and businesses, including the Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB), will end as planned on October 23. The Government instead intends to spend $7.4B transitioning to new targeted pandemic support programs.

As eligibility requirements of these new support programs were not made available today, Equity cannot as yet determine how this will impact our sector.

You may read the Government's news release here.

Equity’s live performance coalition partners (IATSE, the Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM) and the Associated Designers of Canada (ADC)) will continue to lobby the Government to ensure our members and artists across the country are included in any recovery plans as our industry tentatively reopens.

Also, and unfortunately for Equity, the two programs that have provided support to the Association, the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy and the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy, will come to an end as scheduled. These two subsidies have served to keep Equity from being forced to spend more of its stabilization fund than necessary. However, members should be reassured that budgeting has always taken the expected deadlines into account and our fiscal plan leading up to March 31, 2022 remains on target.

Equity will share more information on today's announcement when it becomes available.
