Stage Management

Prompted to run by a fellow member who thought I could effectively serve, after much thought, I agree. I have been a member for a long time working in Stage Management for theatre, opera, fringe and educational institutions. Those experiences have brought me into contact with members, long standing and new, who did not really know what Equity does for them. Member Education interests me as it is an area of importance as without the support of CAEA we would not be as ably protected in this business.

Equity plays a key role in our working lives, but it also represents us in advancing Canadian culture and lobbying for its support. Cultural institutions and their workers have been badly hurt by the pandemic. Members were forced to leave for different work and audiences have been slow to return. Only by keeping the benefits of a healthy arts sector front and centre before arts funders, politicians and our audiences can we hope to become stronger. A strong national association is the best way to bring our collective voices into those discussions going forward.

Were I to become a Councillor, I hope to learn how to concretely benefit the members and the industry.
