My name is Geoff McBride (he/him); I am the current Councillor for the Eastern Ontario/ Outaouais Region, and will be seeking another term as your representative.
I recently submitted a Request for Council Action (RCA-351) that reads in part: "As we approach the 50th anniversary of CAEA I propose that it may be a good opportunity to look at the Regional Structure particularly the Eastern Ontario and Outaouais. I am not sure why we are still a region. There is nothing culturally or geographically unique about this area (other than it is the buffer between the Two Solitudes)... The realities of how we make and consume theatre have changed since our organization drafted its constitution and maybe we need to look at how we represent our members, who now perhaps live in one city, but find work elsewhere." I am seeking a mandate from members to undertake this examination of our Constitution and Regional model with the next Council.
