Hello Equity Members,
My name is Evelyn Chew. I am running for Equity council in the BC/Yukon Region for the second time. I would like to thank Raugi Yu and Scott Bellis for nominating me in this election. Their support has inspired me to come forward to serve our community.
I have been a professional actor based in Vancouver for 15 years. As well, I am an educator and mentor and have often provided support to my peers. I currently serve on the UBCP BIPOC Committee and UBCP BIPOC Education Subcommittee. The challenges I have encountered throughout my education and career have deepened my understanding and strengthened my compassion and integrity. I am dedicated to fostering healthy work practices and believe in leading with care and by example.
My connection to historically marginalized communities fuels my passion for kindness, empathy, inclusivity and self-advocacy. I am particularly interested to support Council’s work on mental health, education, inclusivity, anti-racism initiatives and promoting safe and respectful workplaces.
I am committed to listening, learning and collaborating with all of you to create meaningful change. I commend Council and all candidates for their work toward strengthening our community.
