    Information on Elections & How To Vote

    Voting for Equity's 2025-2027 Council term is open from November 12 to November 28, 2024 for all Life members and Regular or Regular-Extended Visa members, residents in Canada and in good standing.

    On November 12, voting information will be sent by email to all eligible members with EMAIL essential information preference, in the electoral regions where an election is taking place. On the same date, candidate statements and other election related information will be emailed to all eligible members with EMAIL essential information preference in the regions with acclaimed candidates.

    On November 6, voting information will be mailed to all eligible members with MAIL essential information preference, in the electoral regions where an election is taking place. On the same date, candidate statements and other election related information will be mailed to all eligible members with MAIL essential information preference in the regions with acclaimed candidates.

    If you are an eligible member and have not received your voter information (including unique voting PIN) by November 12, please contact communications@caea.com as soon as possible.

    Election FAQ

    Who can vote?

    Regular, Life and Regular - Extended Visa members of Equity in good standing by the enumeration deadline (November 21) are eligible to vote in the 2025-2027 Council elections.

    How do I vote?

    Voting instructions and access to your ballot will be sent to all Equity members eligible to vote on November 12 for members with an EMAIL communication preference, or on November 6 for members with a MAIL communication preference. Voting for the 2025-2027 Council term will be online or by telephone only. Voting opens November 12 and closes on November 28. Only those votes cast prior to 3:00 p.m. ET on November 28 will be counted. The election results will also be announced by email, social media and on caea.com on November 28, 2024.

    Where do I find my ballot?

    For member security and confidentiality, voting takes place through an external election platform, ElectionBuddy. Your voting instructions and access to your ballot can only be found in your voter information email or mail.

    What if I do not receive my voter information?

    If you are a Regular, Life and Regular - Extended Visa member in good standing, registered in an electoral region where an election is taking place, and have not received a ballot by November 12, please contact communications@caea.com.

    Which region am I in? Can I vote in a different region?

    Members can vote for candidates in their registered electoral region only, which reflects either the member's permanent address or the member's discipline (if involved in Opera, Dance, or Stage Management). To view your current electoral region and/or request a region change, log in to review your membership profile and select 'Update your Region/Discipline'. The last day to select an alternate electoral region prior to the 2025-2027 Council election is October 3, 2024. If you have made a bona fide move to a new permanent address in a different electoral region, please email elections@caea.com to update your region.

    Where can I find my regional candidates?

    You can find out about who is running in Equity's 13 regions by clicking the region links on this page. Regions will also be holding candidacy meetings throughout October and November so make sure you regularly check your emails from Equity or the Candidate Meetings tab on this page to find out when your regional candidates are getting together.
