5 things you can do:
- Read up! - Familiarize with key election issues and learn where political parties stand on the issues that matter to you - we'll update this page with more information on party support of arts issues as it becomes available.
- Talk it out! - Everyday interactions, from family get-togethers to dinner with friends, provide moments when you can share your point of view, hear another perspective, and talk through the issues that matter to you and your community.
- Get involved! - Join a local candidate's campaign and go door-to-door or help out on the phones with polling and fundraising. Candidates are forever grateful for the support of constituents through volunteerism. Door-to-door is a vital part of every candidate's work. It's also a great way to get to know your community, meet new people, be active and have fun!
- Help get out the vote! - Encourage friends, family, co-workers and acquaintances to make sure they know where and when to vote... and to actually show up and vote. People power fuels democracy.
- Attend an all candidates meeting! - Ask a question if so inclined. Questions about arts and culture may be appropriate, or identify as an Artist or Arts Worker and ask a question about something else: quality of life, community safety, the environment or economy. A reminder that Artists contribute to our country in many ways is a powerful message.
