Tony van Bridge, Powys Thomas, Elizabeth Shepherd, Dir. Eric Till
Opened in 1962, the Shaw now operates three stages and has been under the artistic direction of Christopher Newton since 1980. One of the largest repertory companies in North America, works by G.B. Shaw are its specialty, and Pygmalion has hosted some stellar casts. Tony Van Bridge, a Canadian Players founding member and Stratford regular, is most associated with the Shaw Festival, where he was a frequent performer and director. Powys Thomas, a founding Stratford member, co-founded the National Theatre School in 1960. Elizabeth Shepherd has performed extensively throughout Canada.
